Intro to Knitting | A 4-Week Intro Course (Feb 2026)

Intro to Knitting is a welcoming, hands-on course designed for complete beginners and curious creatives alike. This class centers on the simple but wonderful ability to create something entirely by hand, using yarn, your hands, and yes, knitting needles. Whether you've never picked up needles before or have tried knitting in the past and felt unsure where to start, this course walks you through the fundamentals at a comfortable, encouraging pace. Along the way, you'll build confidence, learn muscle memory, and experience the calming, meditative nature of making something from scratch. Small class sizes ensure personalized instruction, clear demonstrations, and plenty of one-on-one support. Course Schedule Week 1 [2/3/26]: Casting On & Knit Stitch Learn how to cast on stitches and master the knit stitchβ€”the foundation of knitting. We'll focus on hand positioning, tension, and getting comfortable with the rhythm of knitting. Week 2 [2/10/26]: Purling & Casting Off Add the purl stitch to your skill set and learn how knit and purl stitches work together. You'll also learn how to cast off cleanly to finish a piece. Week 3 [2/17/26] Texture & Pattern Basics Explore simple stitch patterns such as 1x1 ribbing or seed stitch. This week introduces how small changes can create texture and visual interest in your work. Week 4 [2/24/26]: Skill Building & Personal Projects This flexible session is shaped by student interest. Options include refining earlier techniques, learning an introductory advanced skill, understanding how to find and read beginner knitting patterns online, or starting a specific project with guided support. Practice Between Classes Students are encouraged, but not required, to practice between sessions. Custom tutorial videos will be provided to support independent learning and reinforce techniques covered in class. Refund & Attendance Policy If you are unable to attend a session, reference videos will be provided. However, we will not have direct makeup sessions. Due to small class sizes there are no Refunds or Cancellations, please make sure you can attend all dates before registering
